Own Software Writers' Change Management Group

Why was this group created?

The move to a single ILR in XML format brought about a significant change in the way learner data is collected from the further education (FE) sector. We have been working with training providers and software writers to ensure that all providers are able to adapt to these changes.

Training providers, who write their own software, expressed concern that they did not have adequate support to change their systems to adapt to a single ILR in XML format. This group was set up with the aim of providing the necessary tools and advice to ensure that these training providers were able to implement the changes within the prescribed timescales. The group has continued to meet and share approaches and good practice although the initial deadline has now passed.

Who attends these meetings?

Providers who are listed as own software writers, as well as members of the Own Software Writers Advisory Group, are invited to join this group, i.e. those responsible for software development within training providers.
