Adult Safeguarded Learning Group

This group is for representatives from Adult Safeguarded Learning providers who are responsible for preparing and sending ASL ILR returns.

Meeting outputs

At the last meeting on 27 October 2011, information and discussion included the following:

  • Validation rules have been updated and aligned with Learner Information Suite (LIS) and OLDC
  • Clarity of error reports in describing issues with the data
  • Frequency of updates on the Learning Aim Reference Application. The second release aims to automate work flow processes so it is  clearer where hold ups are in the process
  • Delay in the production of Annex H has made planning more difficult for providers
  • The second LIS release (expected in January 2012) should include a shadow funding calculation model
  • ASL budget and elements are unlikely to vary for 2012/13.  The main changes will be in 2013/14
  • Recent research has demonstrated the high return on investment on ASL courses
  • Outcomes of the impact assessment of including ASL provision within QCF have been published on the Non Regulated Provision section of the Skills Funding Agency website
  • Length of time hardcopies of enrolment forms should be retained for as the costs of storing them is increasingly prohibitive.
