Key Activities

This section contains information and updates on the key activities the information authority is currently leading on or actively involved in.  Click on the titles for more information.

Reducing the Data Burden

The authority is working closely with the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and with awarding bodies to reduce what independent research has shown to be unnecessary data collection demands being placed upon further education and training providers.

Harmonising Success Rates

Providers told us that differences in success rate reporting by the LSC and Ofsted were a source of confusion and frustration.  We responded to this by sponsoring a report to identify what they were and by offering our assistance to resolve them.

Improving the Individualised Learner Record (ILR)

The authority will be carrying out further work on the Individualised Learner Record (ILR) and will consult with the sector and specialist groups to ascertain whether any current data fields can be removed and to set quality standards for each remaining field.

We are committed to further improving the transparency of the ILR change request process.  We will be giving guidance to learning providers and telling them clearly what data is required from them and what it will be used for.
