ILR Data Management
Following
the letter sent by Geoff Russell, Chief Executive of the Learning and Skills Council, to providers earlier this year about good data management practices and principles,
the information authority has received some specific queries about recording particular circumstances, and other more general queries about the rules for ILR recording.
The
ILR Data Management FAQs page has been set up to address these queries. The guidance given here is not new, but has been consolidated for clarification.
There are some areas of provision, such as the delivery of Skills for Life, Basic Skills and Key Skills, where the existing guidance is not sufficiently detailed about how learning aims should be recorded, particularly in cases where it is not clear at the outset whether or not the learner will take an accredited qualification, and at what level.
A data management group has been set up to review the guidance that should apply in these cases, and will meet in late December 2009. This group consists of sector and provider representatives and will be chaired by Graham Jones (chair of
the information authority board).
Following this meeting, further information and guidance will be made available.
