Harmonising Success Rates - Progress
Recent work progressed by the Data Harmonisation Group
- The LSC and Ofsted successfully working together to align their data collection processes and agree specifications for 'freezing' data. This is to ensure that published FE success rates and those used for inspection are the same.
- The calculation method for Learner Responsive success rates is being changed for 2008/09 to ensure, amongst other changes, consistency between the definition of the learner start dates used for funding and those used for assessing quality of provision.
- Working with Sector Skills Councils and other representative bodies, the LSC and Ofsted agreed a standard method for mapping Apprenticeship success rates onto the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA) Sector Subject Areas at Tier 1 and Tier 2. This was to resolve the confusion amongst providers, and eradicate conflicting messages about performance based on the different approaches used by the LSC and Ofsted.
- Working with BIS and the National Appreticeship Service (NAS) to align timely success rates for all work-based learning.
