Applying for a vacancy at the information authority

The Application and Selection Process

The aim of our recruitment process is to give you the best opportunity to show you're the most suitable person for the job and to ensure we make the right choice based on an objective assessment of each applicant's merits.

All applications are judged solely on suitability for the role, based, initially, on the skills and experience you tell us about in your application and, later, at interview and/or assessment. Your name, address and age, together with your equal opportunities information, will not be seen by your interviewer, to avoid any subjective bias in the short-listing process.

If your application is successful in being short-listed, you will be invited to attend at least one interview so your suitability can be judged in more depth. A panel will conduct the interview rather than one person to ensure objectivity and it will be made up of people who understand the demands of the role and the skills, qualities and experience required.

You may also be asked to take a test or assessment relevant to the role you've applied for, for example, a computer based task to determine your PC skills or an exercise designed to highlight your presentation skills. In either case, you will be advised in advance so that you have time to prepare.

We'll make every effort to ensure you don't feel intimidated, as we understand you may be nervous at interviews, tests and other assessments. After all, it's your opportunity to find out more about us and the role you'll be doing as well as for us to get to know you. You will be able to tell us about any requirements you may have as a result of a disability, and we will make every reasonable effort to meet them.

Please note that the information authority's retirement age is 65, and we welcome applications from candidates on this basis.
