Success rates harmonised
The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and Ofsted have worked jointly to remove inconsistencies from the annual reporting of further education qualification success rates by ensuring that both organisations use exactly the same base data and methodology.
Previous reports from Ofsted were based upon data provided up to a fixed point at the end of the academic year while LSC reports incorporated new information submitted beyond that point.
“We have worked closely with Ofsted to ensure that that further education success rates for 2006/07 will be based upon exactly the same information,” said Stuart Vickers, LSC Head of Strategic Analysis and Modeling. “For 2007/08, the information authority has agreed to close submissions of data for the Individualised Learner Record in February 2009, earlier than in previous years, to meet the LSC’s requirements for allocations and to help ensure that no further inconsistencies in the success rate base data are allowed to occur.”
